“This has been the biggest hit on my resume! One person interviewing me said she plans to move to a Latitude Margaritaville community when she retires. She said that was a major part of why I got hired: experience and a Margaritaville state of mind.”

“I recently became an assistant principal. In my final interview the assistant superintendent said, ‘Tell me more about this Margaritaville University.’ So I went on to tell him how it was the best thing I did in college, got me involved on campus and connected me with some of my best friends. He then started to tear up and pulled his shirt sleeve back to reveal a Jimmy Buffett memorial tattoo on his arm. He thought it was the coolest thing to see a younger generation of Parrotheads. I 100% attribute this connection to how I got the job.”

“Having MargU on my resume has been a unique conversation starter on numerous professional occasions that opened the door to opportunity. I was interviewing for an internship in college in a field I had no relevant experience in. My final interview was with a VP who was a die-hard Parrothead. We spent pretty much the entire interview talking about Margaritaville, Jimmy Buffett concerts, and explaining MargU to her. I got the internship, grew immensely in my year-long internship, and cemented the VP as a mentor and major advocate for my career growth.”

Before I left an interview I mentioned that I filled some of my time with a ‘marketing type hobby through Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville’. The guy’s jaw DROPPED. He said, ‘Dude, I know another accounting dork who loves Jimmy Buffett!’ Well, long story short, I included Margaritaville University on my resume before I sent it to the ‘tax dork’ and he wanted to hire me before he even met me.”

“I absolutely am working where I am now because of my MargU experience. I wouldn’t be where I am today without MargU and without the life lessons from Jimmy to ‘leap and the net will appear.’”

“Being a MargU ambassador has been a topic of conversation in multiple interviews I’ve had for different internships and jobs. It always leads to the interview having a more casual feel and to the person I’m talking with relating to me in a more natural, human way. Most recently, I received a job offer for my first associate attorney position. Each partner immediately asked me what MargU was and smiled as I talked about my experience. One of the attorneys was a major Parrothead and almost all of my time with him was spent discussing MargU, our favorite Jimmy Buffett songs, and our appreciation for his seaplanes. Needless to say, I credit MargU with helping me stand out and land this job.”

“Margaritaville University has helped me so much throughout my career. As an Ambassador, I gained so many professional skills that helped me get and succeed in internships and full time jobs. I learned communication skills and confidence when communicating. Not only are these skills still with me post-grad, but MargU continues to be a talking point on my resume. Multiple hiring managers were impressed and told me how it made me stand out. I am so thankful for my time as an ambassador and can’t wait to see where it continues to take me.”
